NOTICE TO MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS
Subject: Recognition of Additional Qualifications Under the Medical Practitioners Act
The Medical Council of Guyana wishes to remind all registered medical practitioners
of thenstandards governing the recognition of higher or additional qualifications, as set
out in Section 7(1) of the Medical Practitioners Act, Cap. 32:02.
The Act provides:
“A medical practitioner who obtains qualification or training approved by the
Councilnhigher than or additional to that in respect of which he is registered shall be
entitled, withnthe approval of the Council, to have such higher or additional qualification
or trainingnentered by the Secretary to his name in the register.”
In accordance with this provision, only qualifications that meet the Council’s professional
nstandards will be accepted for entry into the Medical Register.
